He Has, However, Managed To Keep His Racism Quite Systemic, But Nobody Can Pretend Forever. He Got To That Point Where He Could No Longer Pretend And Had To Unleash The Terror From His Dark Heart.
He went so far as to depict other leaders as animals in the jungle, while he made himself the Lion, king of the jungle, in his now deleted, strongly criticised post.
The association between people of colour, particularly those of African descent, and apes is not a biological or scientific correlation, but rather a long-standing racist trope and dehumanising stereotype.
So, it wasn’t out of ignorance that Trump exploited such a racist trope to dehumanise Obama and his wife, Michelle. Maybe that helped him achieve his orgasm. However, Obama has a proportion of the blame for Trump’s ill treatment of Africans.
Historically, the ape association has been a propaganda tool to justify slavery, violence, and systematic oppression by portraying Black people as subhuman.
A history Obama could have helped to rewrite, but he wasn’t anything better towards the Black community during his administration.
We can all still recall his actions in Libya, the execution of Muammar al-Gaddafi and his nonchalance towards the Goodluck Jonathan-led government because of the failed Gay Bill.
Although Obama’s actions and inactions don’t warrant the current demonisation by the racist Trump, Obama failed in teaching his White contemporaries how to treat the Black community.
Sadly, he was at the forefront of mishap, political unrest in Africa and the execution at will, to serve his masters’ agenda. An avenue that paved the way for the ill-treatment by Trump. So, who is to blame?
While I condemn Trump’s action, I would also maintain that Black leaders ought to do better in restoring the dignity of the Black community to make up for the past ill history. It doesn’t matter in what countries they are serving. As long as respect is no longer in servitude at the table, one should point it out.
We can only teach people how to treat us from what we tolerate or condone from them.
I’m a Pan-Africanist, much as I’m a Pro-West, but when respect and merit cease to be part of the items on the table, or when my skin colour now begets dishonour for me and my kind, I would remember the way home, where I belong.
